Straddling the Line A PlaybyPlay Novel Jaci Burton 9780425262993 Books

Let me start by saying that I am a huge Jaci Burton fan, but this book fell flat for me.

Haven had a crush on Trevor when they were in college while she tutored him. Her Dad and Mom were dorm parents to pretty much all of Jaci's main men it seems and they all loved, respected and had great relationships with them even after they graduated. When her Dad died the year before Haven took it very hard and was having trouble moving on. She was working as a sports reporter but kind of wavering if that is what she really wanted. Havens Mom called Trevor and asked if he could help her in some way. Trevor plays both Football and baseball professionally so he works it with Havens network to do an exclusive on him. He is hoping this will get her back on track of following her dreams by keeping her busy and focused. She comes to stay with him while she puts the piece together.

Ok, so this was my problem....when they first meet up again there is zero spark. The crush was one sided in college, although from her reaction to this supposedly hot athlete you would never know! He has known her all these years, was at her fathers funeral the year before.....but nothing was ever mentioned that there was an attraction on his side before. It was like they were asleep when they met again, kind of woke up and stayed tired through the rest of the book. I don't know I just did not click with these two. Haven seemed laid back to the point she was almost lathargic...Trevor who was supposed or be confident and self assured came off confused and a little full of himself. When they did finally get together, it just seemed kind of calculated and convenient no passion at all.

If you did not know Trevor before you sure did now....there was so much of her interviewing him and others in the story. I understand that was her job in the story, but I found myself skimming over a lot of it.

So they both are trying to keep it casual for there own reason....both rediculas! Haven pulls her head out a little to late for me and while I sympathize with what Trevor is going through he is way too smart with way to many recourses to make his issues keep everyone at arms length. It was not until that last couple of chapter that they finally seemed to show some real emotion with each other and then oh guess what they love each other.

This book was not horrible, but I am sad to say it is my least favorite by far of all her books.

Straddling the Line A PlaybyPlay Novel Jaci Burton 9780425262993 Books Reviews

Jaci Burton is one of my favorite authors. I loved loved loved her books on Jenna Riley and her brothers Mick and Gavin. I am hoping just like how we had gotten Gavin's "epilogue", we will ge the same for Jenna. This wasn't my fave book over all but Jaci's work do get my blood boiling.
Love this series so much!! I loved Trevor and Haven's story. I liked their chemistry and the story was sexy but sweet too. This author tells a great story and you fall in love with the characters in these books. I've read every book in this series. They are all so good. Can't wait for the next book. I've already preordered book 9. Read this series. You will not be disappointed.
I LOVE this series! I have read every book in this series and loved everyone. Jaci Burton is an amazing author. This is a great story line but I didn't feel the chemistry between these two characters like I did with the other books in the series. I'm not sure why because I loved the history that they had and how they came together. I will definitely continue to read the upcoming books.
I have been looking forward to this book for a while, we had gotten glimpses of Trevor and Haven in earlier books you could tell there was an attraction between the two of them and now we finally get their story. It was NOT disappointing at all!

I can't wait for the next book in the series, now that the four college roommates have found their HEA we move on to a new sports family The Cassidy's.
I love Jaci Burton and have almost everything that she's written. With that being said, this big was a huge disappointment to me. I love the others in the series and was really looking forward to this one, but it doesn't even feel like it was written by her. Something just felt off.I've reread Mick and Gavin's stories a number of time and I love them! Big disappointment in this one.
Wow I fell in love with Trevor and Haven. They are both such kind hearted people. Trevor agrees to let Haven write and document his bio to help pull her out of a slump fatter her dad's death. They are immediately attracted to one another rafters years apart. They were friends before in college but now the attraction is very intense. Things become serious got it each tries to fight it. Trevor is hiding a huge secret he is embarrassed about. I've never read about a person hiding this type of secret. It was huge and heartbreaking. Great great read that I absolutely loved!
Trevor Shay has a great professional football/baseball career and everything he has always wanted. So when he learns that his college mentor's daughter, Haven Brisboe, is in trouble he drops everything to help her.

Haven has finally gotten the plum job she wants but she's having problems functioning because she's still grieving her beloved father's death.

Trevor gives Haven an all access pass to do his bio. But there is one well guarded secret he's holding on. Once their relationship heats up that secret is revealed.

Trevor realizes that he loves Haven and has to decide if trust Haven enough to help him come to terms with that secret.
